The Canton Fair has come to see why the Pubei weaving crafts can call the world?

In the aftermath of the 108th Canton Fair's Phase II Knitting Exhibition, it was revealed that Pubei County in Guangxi Province has gained significant attention from international buyers for its traditional weaving crafts. Despite challenges such as rising raw material costs and fluctuating exchange rates, local textile weaving companies remain optimistic and have seen a surge in orders. This positive momentum reflects the growing confidence of the industry in the face of economic uncertainties. Pubei is widely recognized as the heart of Guangxi’s weaving handicrafts, with its exports accounting for approximately 20% to 30% of the region’s total woven goods. As a nationally renowned county for its craftsmanship, Pubei has become a key player in the national and global markets. The region's artisans make use of locally sourced materials like rattan, bamboo, and reeds to create eco-friendly, elegant, and durable products such as baskets, birdhouses, and decorative items. These items are highly sought after for their natural beauty and environmental appeal. With over 62,000 farmers engaged in the weaving industry, the sector has become a vital source of income and employment. From January to April 2010 alone, the output value reached 114 million yuan, and products are now exported to more than 20 countries, including the U.S., France, and Japan. This expansion highlights the increasing global recognition of Pubei's unique craftsmanship. The success of Pubei’s weaving industry is not accidental. In recent years, the County Bureau of Commerce has taken active steps to support and promote the export of these crafts. First, they have focused on strengthening the confidence of local enterprises by providing guidance on foreign trade policies and helping them access funding for international market development. This year alone, 816,000 yuan in support funds were allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises to boost their overseas presence. Second, the bureau has worked closely with the "Weaving Enterprises Association" to organize participation in major events like the Canton Fair. They also offer training programs on e-commerce, export credit, and product quality management. For instance, the Qinzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has conducted multiple training sessions in Pubei, equipping local businesses with the knowledge needed to meet international standards. Third, the bureau encourages companies to adapt to changing market demands by promoting innovation and product improvement. One notable example is the Yinxiang Craft Factory, which has introduced new designs using iron wire and environmentally friendly materials like aquatic plants. These innovations have made their products more affordable and appealing to a wider range of international consumers. Thanks to these supportive policies and the relentless efforts of local enterprises, Pubei has not only met but exceeded its foreign trade export targets three months ahead of schedule. With each passing year, Pubei’s weaving crafts are gaining more recognition on the global stage, proving that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.
