Bangladesh has a total output of about 2.2 million packets of jute this year

Bangladesh is currently in the peak of its jute harvest season. This year, the country has set a target of planting 139,000 hectares of jute, and so far, the actual area planted has reached 19.98 hectares—an impressive 44% increase compared to previous years. Over 420,000 hemp farmers are expected to produce approximately 2.2 million bales this season, which is 49% higher than the initial plan. The rising demand for jute has led to an increase in prices, with the local raw jute (Ma Maland) now selling at 2,200 taka per 40-kilogram bundle—up from 1,600 taka just a month ago. This price hike reflects the growing market interest and improved economic conditions for farmers. To further boost their income, the government has announced that fiber separation services will be provided free of charge in key production areas. Additionally, recent government investments in modernizing jute factories have brought new hope to local farmers, increasing their confidence in the sector's long-term sustainability and profitability.
