Japan and South Korea are Vietnam's two largest export markets in Asia. From January to September, the exports were 1.45 billion U.S. dollars and 748 million U.S. dollars, respectively, an increase of 18.7% and 18.5% over the same period in 2011.

According to Mr. Li Jinchang, deputy general manager of Vietnam National Textile and Apparel Group, this growth is very significant in the context of the global economy still in turmoil. Looking into the fourth quarter, Vietnam's textile and apparel industry exports will further increase. Some manufacturers' export orders have been accepted by the end of the first quarter of next year.

In the first nine months of 2012, Vietnamese footwear exports soared by 12.5% ​​to US$5.22 billion. Among them, exports to the European Union amounted to US$1.87 billion (up 2.1% year-on-year), exports to the United States were US$1.65 billion (up 19.2% year-on-year), exports to Japan were US$245 million (up 33.5% year-on-year), and exports to China The amount was US$219 million (an increase of 28.1% over the same period of last year).
