Digital printing ushered in a high-speed development of 50% of the printing factory in 3 years

The traditional printing and dyeing “three highs and one low” (high consumption, high pollution, high emissions, low added value) business model is already a red sea, and the market space is gradually shrinking. The characteristics of low pollution, low consumption, high added value and flexible production of digital printing technology conform to the trend of green, environmental protection and sustainable development, and also cater for the "small batch, multi-variety, short delivery period". The fashion style is in line with the transformation and development of the future printing and dyeing industry.

Moreover, digital printing, as an alternative to traditional printing, has been widely used in clothing, home textiles, industrial textiles, etc., and is suitable for various fibers and blends such as cotton, wool, silk, hemp, polyester, and nylon. Undoubtedly, the prospect of digital printing is very broad, and it has become a rare high-profit industry in the market, attracting many investors to enter the field. According to experts, the next few years will be the golden age for the development of digital printing in China.

Of course, the textile printing and dyeing industry may not have realized the tremendous changes brought about by this new technology. You can boldly predict:

Within three years, digital printing will become the mainstream of the entire textile printing industry.

More than 50% of printing companies will use digital printing.

It is understood that India's first Single-Pass printing machine has been installed in January this year, many people will ask: China's first Single-Pass installed in the end? Here, I can disclose it to you in advance - China's first Single-Pass ultra-high-speed digital printing machine will be delivered to users in mid-April. Whose machine is it? The answer is "hope"!

Where is "hope" sacred? What hopes will the textile printing and dyeing industry bring? Please see the exclusive interview of "Fashion Printing" [Guangdong Hope Hi-Tech Digital Technology Co., Ltd.] General Manager Mr. He Xiaoyan, he will explain the "Hope Project" for us!

"Transitional translation" from ceramic to textile

Chunxia: Hello, Mr. He, can you briefly introduce the background of the establishment of “Hope High Science”?

He Xiaoyan: I hope that Ceramics 1996 was established. It started to be an automatic control digital technology in the ceramic industry, research and development of circuit boards and software. After 1999, he has been focusing on the development and manufacture of printing equipment for architectural ceramics. In 1999, he launched the first digital stepping flatbed printing machine in China, which improved the precision of the net from 3 mm to 0.3 mm. In 2003, the first domestic roller was introduced. Printing machine, launched the first digital inkjet machine in China in 2008, this year is the 20th anniversary of the company.

In 2012, it happened to be the year of the explosion of architectural ceramic digital inkjet machine. In order to seek new breakthroughs and development, we began to look for a new application market. After a lot of in-depth research, we finally decided to develop in the direction of textile digital printing. The preliminary development of textile printing equipment began. In 2015, we officially launched textile digital printing equipment. For the upcoming digital printing tide, we are ready!

Chunxia: Textiles and ceramics are two different industries. There are huge differences in materials. Ceramic ceramics are basically unified, but textile fabrics and crafts are ever-changing. How to smoothly transfer technology?

He Xiaoyan: Textiles and ceramics are indeed two different industries, but they are similar in terms of digital printing. The digital printing platforms of the two, regardless of the nozzle technology, software-driven technology, ink supply system, color management software, etc. A technology platform. It is possible that people outside the industry do not know enough about the ceramic industry. In fact, ceramics are also ever-changing. When printing ceramic tiles, the minimum ink volume of the nozzle is required to be 6 pl, and the maximum ink volume is even 160 pl. The ink volume is wider than the textile. The electronic numerical control, software, machinery, ink path control, color management and other technologies that we have accumulated over the past 20 years can also be applied to the textile industry.

Chunxia: So hope can develop so fast?

He Xiaoyan: No, we are not at all fast. In the past 20 years, we have only done the thing of ceramic printing equipment, and now we are going to do textile digital printing equipment. We will actively learn from the industry in the textile industry and cooperate with the textile industry.

Digital printing will become the mainstream of printing within three years

Chunxia: What do you think about the prospects of textile digital printing?

He Xiaoyan: Digital printing technology has completely changed the business model and production mode of the ceramic industry. Today, more than 80% of printed tiles are made with digital prints. Digital printing technology will also change the production model and business model of the textile industry. Although the textile digital printing technology is not perfect compared with the flat screen and the rotary screen, it cannot hide the huge advantages it will bring.

Of course, the textile printing and dyeing industry may not have realized the tremendous changes brought about by this new technology. However, I am very optimistic and can boldly predict that within three years, digital printing will become the mainstream of the entire textile printing industry, and more than 50% of printing companies will adopt digital printing.

Chunxia: What can digital printing achieve 50% within three years? You know, digital printing may not even be 5%.

He Xiaoyan: Digital printing will bring about tremendous changes in the production mode and sales model of textile printing and dyeing. This will be an unforgettable revolution. If you have experienced the development of ceramic digital printing, you will have a different experience. ——In 2008, we exhibited the first ceramic inkjet machine. At that time, the price of ceramic ink was 1.2 million yuan, which was not available. In 2009, Hangzhou Nobel bought our first and second machines. In the following three years, despite the promotion of ceramic digital printing technology, digital printing accounted for only a percentage of the ceramic tile industry. a few. The real explosion is in the three years from 2012 to 2014. The proportion of digital printing in the ceramic tile industry has risen sharply from a few percent to over 80%. Ceramic digital inkjet machines are in short supply. Up to now, the price of ceramic ink has been less than 50,000 yuan a ton, this is the industrial revolution brought about by the technological revolution!

Chunxia: The development of ceramic digital printing can also bring some inspiration to the textile digital printing industry.

He Xiaoyan: Yes, the popularity of new technologies is much faster than expected, but it is also well understood. At that time, digital printing technology greatly improved the color quality of ceramic tile products, and the cost was much lower than the traditional flat screen and roller printing. The first batch of ceramic enterprises using digital printing had achieved amazing commercial returns, and later used more enterprises. The digital printing technology has been popularized in the ceramic industry, forming a market pattern of “who will go out without digital printing”.

Interestingly, the XAAR company that we worked with did not think that the sprinklers were not enough to sell, accounting for more than 80% of its total sales. At that time, the market was too crazy. The nozzles were out of stock, the production and after-sales could not keep up, and the installation and commissioners were not enough. The ceramic factories dig each other around the corner and recruit inkjet operators. Therefore, we took the lead in setting up an operator training class, taking care of the tube, picking up the car, sending a car for two weeks, 12 people per class, and trained over a thousand people in a few years.

Chunxia: Is there still a shortage of ceramic digital printing industry?

He Xiaoyan: There is no shortage of people, and the entire ceramic industry has already popularized digital printing. When you go to the tile market to buy ceramic tiles, it is difficult to find flat-screen or roller-printed tiles. Digital printing tiles that used to cost ten times are now big road goods. Who would think of the situation like today?

The desired machine never bundles ink

Chunxia: The textile industry is different from the ceramic industry. The cost of textile digital printing machines, inks and nozzles is still high. This is also an important reason why digital is still difficult to replace the tradition.

He Xiaoyan: Many people think that the current price of machines, inks and nozzles is too high, but all costs will drop rapidly over time. For example, the earliest ceramic ink was 1.2 million tons, which you think is expensive, but others are not sold to you. Today, ceramic inks only sell for more than 40,000 tons. Many people who make ceramic inks complain that the ink price is too low and unprofitable. However, the ceramic ink industry has a GEM listed company called Dow Technology, whose earnings report is more than 40% gross. This is the industrial scale effect. A large amount of cost will naturally drop significantly. This is the same in the textile industry, as long as there is a scale effect, the cost of ink will be greatly reduced.

Chunxia: Now many equipment manufacturers are bundled with ink, hope to do the same?

He Xiaoyan: No! no way. We firmly defend the right of customers to choose ink freely, in order to form a good market competition mechanism, which is conducive to the long-term development of the industry. The rules of the ceramic industry "the machine does not bundle ink" is what we want the company to promote. In the field of textile digital printing, we will implement this concept as well. Our machines will open the platform for all qualified inks, and we also expect the same industry to do the same. This will enable textile digital printing to grow rapidly and achieve a win-win situation in the market.

Chunxia: You just mentioned that the ink lacks scale effect, so the price is very high, but with the advent of the Single-Pass continuous high-speed digital printing machine, can this scale effect be realized?

He Xiaoyan: A Single-Pass machine has a daily output of 50,000 meters (1.6 meters wide), with 12 grams of ink per square meter, and an ink price of 100,000 tons per ton. One machine uses one ton of ink per day, and the ink cost is one year. Will reach more than 30 million yuan, the ink company alone can rely on this Single-Pass machine to have more than 30 million sales per year, enough to support a small-scale company to achieve mass production, thereby significantly reducing costs. When the scale goes up, the ink is no longer a luxury of a few hundred dollars a kilogram. Industrial products need scale, and the same is true for machines. When we first bought the nozzles for R&D, the price of the nozzles was very expensive. Later, the procurement volume of our nozzles increased, and the price of the nozzles was much cheaper.

China's first Single-Pass printing machine installed in April

Chunxia: What kind of nozzles do you want to use for textile digital printing machines?

He Xiaoyan: We have used many nozzles on ceramic digital printing, such as Xaar Xaar1001/1002, Fuji FUJI Dimatix SG1024, Toshiba TTEC CF10L/CF1L, Konica Konica KM1024i. The textile industry mainly uses Kyocera nozzles, Starlight SG1024, and Ricoh Gen5. Fuji's Samba nozzles will soon be introduced to the market.

Our current scanning models are: HF01, HF02, HF03, corresponding to 1800mm, 2600mm, 3200mm width; Single-Pass models are: BD01, BD02, corresponding to the width of 1800mm and 2800mm. Our smallest production models also have 16 Kyocera nozzles, and there are hundreds of nozzles.

Chunxia: When will the first Single-Pass printing machine of Hope be installed?

He Xiaoyan: Our scanning machine has been very good since it was put on the market last year. Our first Single-Pass machine will be installed in April this year, and customers and we are looking forward to it. It is expected to be the first installed Single-Pass machine in China.

Chunxia: What is the starting point for users to choose Single-Pass?

He Xiaoyan: It can bring value to users. First, the output is high, and the daily output is more than 50,000 meters. Second, the quality of the user's products will be greatly improved, and the price of the product can be improved. The comprehensive cost of digital printing for textile orders of less than 3,000 meters is better than that of the flat net and the rotary net. Printing, while bringing social benefits in environmental protection.

Chunxia: Yesterday we have calculated that there is now a Single-Pass machine of 20 to 30 million. A printing factory with an annual output of more than 6 million square meters may take several years to recover the investment.

He Xiaoyan: But big companies can print 500,000 meters a day, 10% of which are made with one Single-Pass. This machine can produce 15 million meters a year. Because the quality is improved, the processing fee can be increased. One point, the recovery of investment costs is still very optimistic. Need to emphasize again, Single-Pass has different solutions on different fabrics, not a luxury, but also has a Single-Pass machine within 10 million yuan. Perhaps many years later, the hand-painted flat screen is the luxury of high-priced art, who knows how the times change.

Chunxia: What is the position of Gao Ke's textile digital printing machine?

He Xiaoyan: "Hope in quality", we love high quality things and hope to create high value for our customers. Machines are tools, the hallmark of human civilization, and the highest quality requirements of users are our quality standards. Unlike the textile industry, the ceramic digital printing industry only uses the Single-Pass machine, and it is continuously produced every day, which requires extremely high stability. After 20 years of extremely demanding quality tests in the ceramic industry, we look forward to meeting the challenges of the textile printing and dyeing industry, and we will do our best, no matter how high the cost and the cost.

Our goal is to replace the current flat screen and rotary screen printing with digital printing, but we will not compete with the current small machine manufacturers. This is our position in the textile printing and dyeing industry.

I hope to vote for the spring thunder!

"This will be an unforgettable revolution. Although digital printing technology is not perfect compared to the flat screen and the rotary screen, it can not hide the huge advantages it will bring." He Xiaoyan's words are impressive.

In just three years, the proportion of digital printing in the ceramic industry has risen from negligible to more than 80%. This should be instructive to the textile industry: once the point is stepped on, the speed of popularization of new technologies is often higher than expected.

A revolution in the textile industry is in full swing and inactive. Cross-border competition has begun, and the rules of the game will change! We must keep up with the changes, as Ma Yun said: "Many people lose if they lose. For the new things, the first one can't see, the second one can't see, the third can't understand, the fourth is too late..."
