India allocates Rs 245 crore to build sports textile R&D center

The Indian Union’s Ministry of Textiles has approved the Rs 245 crore for the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) in Mumbai for the construction of a textile-related R&D center for sports.

The new R&D center is named National Movement Technology Demonstration Center (NCE). Reliance Industries and the Mumbai-based Kusumgar Affiliate and Kemrock Industries Co. in Vadodara are all partners of the center.

JCT Industries, based in Ludhiana, is a manufacturer of sportswear for many brands. The company also expressed interest in the National Sports Technology Demonstration Center (NCE).

ICT will cooperate with the Textile Industry Association to hold seminars throughout India to collect different fabric samples for its R&D activities.

The National Sports Technology Demonstration Center (NCE) may be assisted by Texanlab Laboratories Pty Ltd, India's largest independent textile inspection agency.
